“A work that speaks to the transience of beauty and time with the rich symbolism in the painting, both hidden and in plain view. Exploring the enigmatic energy of womanhood. The vibrant, earthy red colour palette looks to reinforce the sense of passion and latent energy. A positive interpretation of female power and potential. An exploration of the visceral, enigmatic energy of womanhood. The included objects are symbolic references to ‘possibility’, instinct and fiery passion. In art and literature bones are often depicted as a symbol of mortality. The fine bone china cup alludes to the refined cultural custom of taking tea which is, somewhat at odds with the materials used in the cups manufacture and the human instinct to kill and use animals. Note: Bone china was first commercially made by Thomas Frye at his Bow Porcelain Factory in East London in 1748. The factory was located in the East end of London close to the cattle markets and slaughterhouses, providing easy access to the animal bones needed to create the bone ash used in the manufacture of ‘bone china’. ”
