From the series “Urn”. A ship sculpture designed to hold ashes, featuring a rabbit head, soldered wire, wood, liquin-treated tracing paper, part of a Ken doll, milliput, and paint.
Dirk Larsen began his artistic journey in 1974 as part of the duo Reindeer Werk, moving into anti-conceptualist painting by 1980, a style later linked to the Low Brow movement. Over time, Larsen has developed a practice that mediates between conceptual and anti-conceptual frameworks, often incorporating found objects into his sculptures.
