From the series “Urn”. A sculpture of a ship made from soldered wire, wood, liquin treated tracing paper, part of a Ken doll, milliput and paint, intended as an urn.
Dirk Larsen began his artistic journey in 1974 as part of the duo Reindeer Werk, moving into anti-conceptualist painting by 1980, a style later linked to the Low Brow movement. Over time, Larsen has developed a practice that mediates between conceptual and anti-conceptual frameworks, often incorporating found objects into his sculptures.
