This view of Arran is from the south side of the village of Dunure on the Ayrshire coast and shows a typical summer sunset. I was brought up in Dunure and spent many happy days there as a child, swimming in the harbour and playing in the fields and woods around the village. We often take our surroundings for granted as children and it was only in my early twenties when I returned home from art school in Leeds that I really began to appreciate this view.
William McLean Kerr, a Scottish artist and illustrator, established his Ayrshire studio in 1996. His work, which includes paintings, drawings, and fine art prints, has been exhibited widely across Scotland, including solo exhibitions at the Maclaurin Art Gallery in Ayr and the Annan Gallery in Glasgow. Kerr has also undertaken numerous private and corporate commissions, with pieces held in collections globally.
