Hilma af Klint

Swedish artist and mystic whose abstract paintings, created from 1906 onward, predate the first purely abstract compositions by Kandinsky and Mondrian. Her monumental body of over 1,200 works was kept hidden during her lifetime and only publicly exhibited decades after her death.
