About the Work
“Just finished my new artwork, “First Glimpse of the City.” It’s a 16” x 20” acrylic piece. This abstract cityscape uses geometric shapes and a varied color palette to capture the energy and complexity of urban life.”
Artist
Peter Astor is an artist whose work weaves together abstract painting and storytelling, offering viewers a multi-sensory experience that transcends traditional art boundaries. His understanding of complexity is borne from decades immersed in mathematics and science, revealing that the creative mind needs both sides of the brain. His portraits, murals and landscapes show figures and other organic forms thriving, not just existing, in worlds beyond their control. It is hopeful, and empowering. Dr. Astor learned oil and acrylic painting under the Chilean artist Lorena Vera, C. McCoy-Bristol and Jeff Cohen. He has received multiple awards at the Essex County Arts competitions and the Koether prize for excellence WEAA galleries at Cranes Mill.
